Need To Know Hereford & WorcesterAvailable for over a year
The manager of a Malvern home was sentenced for stealing £22,500 from a resident. She was convicted of six counts of fraud by abuse of position and given 12 months in prison, suspended for a year. But the BBC has spoken to a member of staff, who told us Ann Comer is still working there and sent an email after her conviction to say she would be back at work next week after taking a few days off. BBC Hereford & Worcester's Lindsey Alder reports. The words of the member of staff are voiced by a journalist. Springfield House replied 'no comment' when approached by the BBC. Ann Comer has not replied to requests for a statement. Worcestershire County Council, who place residents at the care home, said 'we take matters relating to the safety and wellbeing of residents extremely seriously. In the light of the recent court case and the outcome involving an individual connected to Springfield House Care Home in Malvern, we continue to work closely with the provider and partner agencies, including the Care Quality Commission, to review the current situation and ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.'
