What is Bundeswehrbeschaffungsbeschleunigungsgesetz?

The World at One Highlights

Available for over a year

Germany has passed the “Bundeswehrbeschaffungsbeschleunigungsgesetz” law to speed up the process of buying helicopters, tanks and frigates for its army. The federal armed forces procurement efficiency law, which is what the 43-character long word translates to, aims to make life easier for defence contractors and trade negotiators. It is one of the longest German words as well as being difficult to pronounce. The World At One's Jonny Dymond talks to Europe Editor Katya Adler about other uniquely German words and phrases.
