Today

Available for over a year

What do we do about the millions of people who are struggling and unable to work? Sir Charlie Mayfield, the former chair of the John Lewis group, has been tasked by the government to lead the Keep Britain Working review. His report in the autumn will attempt to solve the problem. Today’s Justin Webb has been following Sir Charlie on a visit to Denmark to visit a community café run by the local government to provide work for vulnerable people. They also attended a meeting with officials from the Danish Ministry of Employment to discuss how to tackle an unemployment crisis. Listen to Today on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds: 6-9am weekdays and 7-9am on Saturdays.
