Uganda paternity leave extended to seven days

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

Uganda's parliament has passed a bill that increases paternity leave from four to seven days. MPs said they took inspiration from neighbouring Kenya, where male working employees are allowed up to two weeks paternity leave. However, the majority of African countries offer three to seven days of paid paternity leave, but what do Ugandan fathers think of this new bill? Esau Williams spoke to Chris who is currently in St Francis Nsambya Hospital with his wife, celebrating the birth of his new baby daughter. (Picture: Chris Amwine. Credit: Chris Amwine)
