Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

The world's largest cocoa producer has just agreed a new multi-billion dollar bailout from the International Monetary Fund. The IMF says the 3.5 billion dollar loan will help the country tackle the triple shocks of the Covid pandemic, global monetary tightening, and Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The BBC’s Esau Williams spoke to Jason Braganza, the Executive Director of the African Forum and Network on Debt and Development, about the loan. (Credit: Fadel Dawod/Getty Images).
