Over the past few weeks you might have been forwarded a misleading voice note in a WhatsApp group or have seen a dodgy list of medical tips and advice on Facebook. Social media companies are struggling to contain this wave of coronavirus misinformation. So into the breach have stepped volunteers, the admins of local Facebook and WhatsApp groups, who are fighting to stop rumours, bad advice and conspiracy theories from going viral.
