Alps al-Hilli murders: French investigation 'total failure'
Breakfast on BBC Radio SurreyAvailable for over a year
Two little girls, orphaned in a shooting in the French Alps five years ago, are now doing fine and well. That is according to their uncle speaking to BBC Surrey at his home in Chessington, Surrey. The parents and grandmother of Zeena and Zainab al-Hilli were shot dead on a mountain road near Annecy, along with a French cyclist. The killer has never been caught. In an exclusive interview with BBC Surrey, their uncle Zaid has described the French investigation into the murders as a "total failure" and he wants a High Court judge to take over. The French investigator Veronique Dizot has told BBC Surrey it was a complex case and that there has been no progress in solving it. Mirror correspondent Tom Parry, who has written a book The Perfect Crime about it, says he believes the focus of the murder hunt is now on the French victim.
