Syrian refugees and Georgia

From Our Own Correspondent

Available for over a year

Sweden is the country of choice for thousands of Syrians seeking asylum from the war in their own country and a safe place to rebuild their lives. But why Sweden? And how on earth do Syrians make it from the Middle East to the far north of Europe? Sam Piranty finds out. You know those characters you pass, day after day - perhaps they are dressed in an eccentric way, or they're doing something other people usually don't do. They've laid claim to a public spot and have become part of the urban landscape - most cities have one of these local 'celebrities'. Tara Isabella Burton meets one such person in the Georgian capital.
