DJ, broadcaster, writer, and dreamer Zakia Sewell provides the soundtrack to your dreams - playing music to ease the mind, soothe the soul and open portals to new dimensions... Zakia reaches for whimsical and electronic selections, inspired by her very special guest - the Japanese legend Haruomi Hosono. Now 79 years old, Hosono has been a pioneer since his musical beginnings in the 1960s, including with his trailblazing group Yellow Magic Orchestra. Hosono has had a huge impact on genres from pop and electronic music to techno and ambient. Artists like Cameron Winter, Thundercat and Aphex Twin have all cited him as one of their musical heroes. Hosono talks about his latest album Yours Sincerely, his first new music in seven years, as well as his dreams and a piece of music that inspires him. Elsewhere, Zakia plays lots of new music, including from Regina Collage, ddwy, Misha Panfilov and Tashi Dorji, and marks some special birthdays, including John Coltrane, Linda Lewis and Tim Maia. Plus lots of Japanese selections inspired by Hosono, from Frank Chickens to Hiroshi Yoshimura, as well as a previously unreleased soundtrack to a Werner Herzog documentary.
