National Poetry Day

'Round Midnight

Available for 29 days

All this week, Soweto has been joined by poet, author, musician and academic Anthony Joseph as his guest. He's been sharing some of the albums that centre poetry and spoken word with music, and that have inspired him, for a special edition of 4/4. Today marks National Poetry Day, and to conclude his week, Anthony chooses a record by an American singer, poet, multi-disciplinary artist and activist that he admires. Also in the programme, there is music by aja monet, MA.MOYO with Marysia Osu, JEANNE LEE, and British jazz royalty Dave Holland, who celebrates his 80th birthday today. ‘Round Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades. To listen on most smart speakers, just say "Ask BBC Sounds to play Round Midnight".
