Jamz Supernova reaches the 00s as The Music is Black continues, the BBC season marking more than 125 years of Black British music alongside V&A East Museum's exhibition The Music is Black: A British Story. Cooly G takes the centre of the show. The South London producer, DJ and singer signed to Hyperdub in 2009 and became one of the defining voices of UK funky, a scene she has never much wanted to be filed under. Jamz plays her set recorded at Power & Respect on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, billed as 25 Years of Cooly G. The rest of the show belongs to the decade that shaped her, from UK garage splitting into grime and dubstep to broken beat out of West London. Plus, new music, with an uplifting array of alternative R&B, hip-hop, broken beat, global club sounds and leftfield electronica. Produced by BBC Audio for BBC Radio 6 Music.
