Ballymena 400 – a special day out in People’s Park

Kintra

Available for 29 days

Helen Mark MBE presents BBC Radio Ulster’s weekly Ulster-Scots magazine, alongside Willie Hill and new recruit Emma Bryson. The trio broadcast from People's Park at a family-friendly event to help mark 400 years since the Adair family were granted a patent by Charles I to have the right to hold a free weekly Saturday market and two fairs each year – essentially founding Ballymena as we know it. There are chats with musician Willie Drennan, historian David Hume, the mayor and children’s author Kelsey Carol, alongside many of the other folk running events or recreations to mark a very special anniversary. As always, listeners are invited to contact the programme with a good Ulster-Scots yarn or event to talk about. The easiest way to do that is by email – via helen.mark@bbc.co.uk.
