DJ, broadcaster, writer and dreamer Zakia Sewell provides the soundtrack to your dreams - playing music to ease the mind, soothe the soul, and open portals to new dimensions… Here to help you wind down as the week draws to a close, Zakia brings a dreamy and healing show, brimming with Brazilian gems. Tonight, Zakia celebrates her special guest, the São Paulo based musician and producer Bruno Berle, by pulling out some trailblazing contemporary Brazilian music makers. Including songs from Jucara Marcal of Metá Metá, Lê Almeida, and legendary São Paulo composer, Itamar Assumpcao. Across the rest of the programme, new soothing sounds including, a song from the Los Angeles and south London link up between Carlos Nino and Duval Timothy, and music from Texas-born, Chicago-based musician and visual artist, Sparklmami. Plus we hear from Zakia’s special guest, Brazilian singer and songwriter, Bruno Berle, ahead of his UK tour in June, and the release of his third album Sem Fronteiras, in July. Bruno joins Zakia to tell her about his dreams, as well as one of his favourite albums which encourages him to think that there’s no such thing as unfinished music, all music making is worthwhile, even if it’s still in a state of becoming. Plus, he tells Zakia about the inspiration behind his album, whose title translates as ‘without frontiers’ or ‘without borders’, and celebrates the collective joy and human connections he’s encountered whilst touring around the world.
