Tectonics Glasgow 2026: Nicole Mitchell, Naomi Pinnock and Frédéric Le Junter

New Music Show

Available for 29 days

Kate Molleson presents more highlights from Tectonics Glasgow 2026, including world premieres of music by Martin Smolka and Nicole Mitchell, which are performed by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and conductor Ilan Volkov, who has curated the festival since its inception 13 years ago. The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra also gives the UK premiere of Naomi Pinnock's work 'I put lines down and wipe them away', and Nicole Mitchell plays flute with the American pianist Craig Taborn in a spellbinding improvisation. Kate Molleson also meets the Iranian-Canadian musician Mohammad Mehrabani, who is one half of Saint Abdullah, performing in the Old Fruitmarket, and she talks to Frédéric Le Junter about his orchestra of invented instruments set up to play in the Recital Room of City Halls.
