6 Music Festival: Climbing and Canals

Cerys Matthews

Available for 26 days

Cerys complements the festival by looking at the city's canals with Dr. Keith Hendry and the rise of climbing with James Lister from The Climbing Depot. Dr. Keith Hendry is a retired aquatic scientist and with many years’ experiences in water quality and fisheries management in rivers, estuaries, lakes, reservoirs and canals. He is part of a team whose work enabled the restoration of the Manchester Ship Canal and the wider Quays redevelopment. Cerys takes a trip to The Climbing Depot in Manchester to investigate the rise of suburban climbing in the city and engage with some local climbers. Produced by BBC Audio for BBC Radio 6 Music
