The BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales and conductor Michał Nesterowicz perform Poulenc's Gloria. On either side of this exuberant work, the Orchestra perform Górecki's Three Pieces in Old Style, and Dvorák's 8th Symphony. The concert begins with Górecki's Three Pieces in Old Style, a work which is stylistically saturated with the music of the renaissance and marked the beginning of a more simple and evocative style for the Polish Composer. Before the interval, the BBC National Chorus of Wales and soprano soloist Sophie Bevan join the Orchestra to perform Poulenc's exuberant Gloria, a work which reimagines the sacred text for modern times. Poulenc wrote the Gloria in the "Vivaldi style", but infused it with his own unique sound of 1960s Paris.
