West Mid Show 2009One of the county's most popular events takes place in June when the West Mid Show opens its gates on 27 June to celebrate rural life and local produce. More than 130 years after the first event, the 2009 West Mid Show will once again show off the best in rural life on 27-28 June. The heart of the show remains rooted in local farming and you'll be able to see some of the region's finest livestock in action on the showground, including sheep, horses, cattle, goats, as well as a few rare breeds. ![]() Roman Chariot Racing. Pigs returned to the show last year and this time they are set to return in even greater numbers. This year there will be plenty to see in the main ring including team show jumping. The Bolddog Lings Freestyle Motorcross Team are making a return visit and there will be Roman Chariot Racing and a Wild West Show. Titan the Robot is also a return visitor and the RAF Falcons parachute display team will be dropping in. Set on the 56-acre West Mid Showground of the outskirts of Shrewsbury there's plenty to see and do at the weekend event. Alongside local produce, displays and competitions in the show rings, there are also many marquees and stalls to visit. The gates open at 9am on both days, but close at 9pm on Saturday 27 June and 7pm on Sunday 28 June. Location and parkingThe Showground is easy to find from both the A5/M54 motorway and there will be yellow AA signs directing visitors to the site. There is ample parking at the ground. If you are using a sat nav or map, the address is: Because of the showground's proximity to Shrewsbury, there is often traffic congestion around the Coton Hill and Berwick Road area.
