BACKGROUND
All three pieces, though respectively very different are some of my favourite piano pieces from the last fifty or so years. The first piece is by the renowned Ajerbaijani jazz pianist, Vagif MustafaZade. He was the creator of the jazz mugham movement in Azerbaijan in the 1960s. He died suddenly at the age of 39 whilst on tour and is succeeded by his daughter Aziz who has become quite successful in the US with her Jazz-fusion style of music. Vince Guaraldi's 'Skating' is one that I hold close to my heart being such a big Peanuts fan. I find that these two pieces blend well together though i can't quite put my finger on why exactly that is. The third and final piece is from Walter Salles' brilliant film, 'Central Station' and is by the Brazilian composer Jacques Morenlenbaum. It's a simple yet beautiful piece of modern piano music.
