Are my veggie sausages saving the planet?
Are meat substitutes really healthier and better for the planet?
CrowdScience listener Lisa has been trying to follow a meat-free diet, but she’s busy and often finds herself reaching for ultra-processed ‘meat substitutes’ to save time.
She’s worried that her decision to eat meat-free burgers, mince and sausages might be less healthy, and worse for the environment than eating meat, so she asked CrowdScience to investigate.
Presenter Chhavi Sachdev gets to work with an answer, including a visit to a facility in India that's developing lab-grown meat. But is that really the healthy choice, and what’s it doing for the planet?
