Zimbabwe: Rescue underway to saved trapped miners

Rescue operations are underway in northern Zimbabwe where dozens of illegal miners are believed to be trapped underground, after an old mine shaft collapsed. Illegal mining has been on the rise in the country, due to high levels of unemployment and the COVID-19 lockdowns.

Plus, an update from Ethiopia, where Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has confirmed that the army has been instructed to begin an operation to take control of Tigray’s regional capital Mekelle.

And Focus looks back on the legacy of Sadiq al-Mahdi, Sudan's last democratically elected prime minister, after his death at the age of 84.
