Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala favourite to become head of WTO
If appointed Dr Okonjo-Iweala will be the first African and first woman to hold the role.
The United States however has favoured South Korea’s candidate, trade minister Yoo Myung-hee, to take the position of Director-General at the World Trade Organisation.
Polls have now closed in Tanzania after presidential and parliamentary elections.
