Niger floods: army deployed in Niamey

Niger’s western region has been hardest hit by days of rain.

The Army has been deployed in the capital Niamey to help evacuate people that have lost their houses to flooding.

South Africa’s economy has shrunk by a staggering 51% in the second quarter of 2020. From March, the continent’s most industrialized economy implemented one of the strictest lockdowns in the world as it battled Covid19, but it has taken a heavy toll.

Students at Copperbelt University in Zambia are mourning the death of Mafishi, a fish that lived in a pond at the country's second-biggest university.
