Nigeria: Lagos lockdown over Covid-19

Reports and analysis of the day's political, economic and sports news from across Africa.

As more than 25 million people are placed on a two-week lockdown in parts of Nigeria in a bid to curtail the spread of coronavirus, poor people in congested neighbourhoods are worried about how they will cope, but one law maker has taken matters into his own hands.

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has announced strict measures to last just over two weeks to stop the spread of coronavirus including a ban on private vehicle use, meaning anyone needing emergency medical care will need to ask a high-level district official for permission to leave their home.
