Mali to 'recruit 10,000 more soldiers'

The prime minister of Mali Boubou Cisse has announced plans to hire 10,000 new soldiers as part of a major military recruitment drive in order to address the growing threat from jihadist groups.

In Kenya, a group of surgeons are offering free eye operations for people suffering from Trachoma disease in the nomadic Turkana community.
