Mali to 'recruit 10,000 more soldiers'

The prime minister of Mali Boubou Cisse has announced plans to hire 10,000 new soldiers as part of a major military recruitment drive in order to address the growing threat from jihadist groups.

In Kenya, a group of surgeons are offering free eye operations for people suffering from Trachoma disease in the nomadic Turkana community.

The human lungs is said to have an almost "magical" ability to repair some of the damage caused by smoking, according to scientists.
