'Boko Haram has been defeated long ago'

Nigeria's minister for Information Lai Mohammed insist the government has made substantial progress in the fight against terror and is no longer fighting Boko Haram but ISWAP.

Tributes have been pouring in from Africa for US basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna who died yesterday in a helicopter crash in the city of Calabasas, California.

The Gambia has banned a movement opposed to President Adama Barrow's decision to renege on a promise to call elections this year.

President Barrow came to power in 2017 as the head of an alliance of parties opposed to the autocratic former leader Yahya Jammeh. The coalition agreed he would lead a provisional government for three years and then call elections.
