Relief in Tanzania over mobile phone block

Some mobile phone users in Tanzania have managed to avoid having their phones blocked, following government's plan to disconnect unregistered Sim cards after yesterday's deadline.

At least ten people have died and dozens injured in Ethiopia after a wooden stand collapsed during a major Orthodox Christian celebration - the Timket festival in Gondar, to commemorate the baptism of Jesus.
