Johannesburg's black mayor resigns in race row
Following his party's re-admission of a white politician who praised colonialism
One of the most senior politicians in South Africa's opposition party, Democratic Alliance (DA) has resigned his post and quit the party over how it handles race.
"I cannot reconcile myself with people who believe that race is not important in their discussion of inequalities." said Herman Masaba who was mayor for three years.
Today marks the 50th anniversary of the bloodless coup in Somalia that saw President Mohamed Siyad Barre’s rise to power.
