The former president Ian Khama described his successor as "drunk on power"
Former President of Botswana Ian Khama recently announced he was leaving the BDP party he led while he was president, signalling that the relationship between him and his successor President Mokgweetsi Masisi has gone sour;
Malawi's President Peter Mutharika has been sworn in for a second term, but opposition leader Lazarus Chakwera said he will continue to challenge the result of the election in court;
And in Nigeria, a national day of mourning in remembrance of victims of killings across the country by jihadists, bandits, herder - farmer conflicts and kidnapping;
