
World artists support Uganda's Bobi Wine

Dozens of musicians, writers, Nobel laureates and prominent public intellectuals around the world have signed a petition condemning what they call political repression and violence in Uganda. They've also called for the release of the Ugandan musician and opposition MP Bobi Wine who was arrested last week and now faces charges in a military court. Among the supporters are the Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, musician Angelique Kidjo, and the Nigerian rapper Lynxxx + In Zimbabwe, hundreds of people gathered around public TV screens in Harare to watch the start of the MDC's legal challenge against the election that gave victory to President Emmerson Mnangagwa + Liberia introduces stronger laws against rape and sexual violence.
