Authorities in Burkina Faso say 18 people were killed, including at least eight foreigners in Sunday's evening attack on the Aziz Istanbul cafe in the capital, Ouagadougou.
And hundreds of people are feared dead in Sierra Leone following a mudslide triggered by heavy rains.
