What happened at the Dana?
Castlefields in Shrewsbury was rocked by three explosions last week, and what appeared to be armed men on the roof of the former prison. A resident said,"I've lived by the prison pretty much my whole life, I've heard many angry men shouting over the walls, but I've never been frightened by it. This was the first time that I really felt genuinely scared because I didn't know what was going on." Alan Moseley, councillor for Castlefields and Ditherington, said he was organising a public meeting between residents and the owners, Cove Attractions. West Mercia Police told us they were made aware of the exercise at Shrewsbury Prison on the 9th of July and received one call from a concerned resident. Cove Attractions has been contacted for comment, but in a previous statement said it was a planned and controlled exercise. It added that details of many private bookings were confidential.
