Southgate on the challenges facing young men
Sir Gareth Southgate has said apprenticeships ‘have become a dirty word’ as he looks to tackle the issues facing young men when it comes to education and work.
Speaking to Amol Rajan for the Today programme about his new documentary, 'Changing the Game for Young Men', the former England men’s football manager said the issue is “complex” and pointed out that a lack of positive male role models can lead to boys looking elsewhere for guidance.
The former footballer was also asked about England’s World Cup prospects, enthusing that he gets to “become an England fan again” after standing down as manager in 2024.
