Food writer Ilhan Mohamed Abdi: ‘London has it’s issues, but it accepted me’
This Listed Londoner tells Robert why the story of Paddington Bear resonates with her.
Ilhan Mohamed Abdi is the author of The Ramadan Kitchen and is of Somali heritage. She turned to food after leaving corporate jobs with Amazon and Goldman Sachs, and initially just wanted to share recipes she enjoyed growing up.
But what began as a love for cooking has grown into a meaningful career sharing recipes and cultural reflections with a global audience. Her Ramadan and Eid Recipes series’ have proved hugely successful across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
