Rwandan vet recognised for helping to save the grey crowned crane
A Rwandan veterinarian who used to work with gorillas has won the prestigious Whitley Gold Award conservation prize for helping to save the huge grey crowned crane.
Dr Olivier Nsengimana tells Newshour about his connection to the majestic bird he calls his 'childhood superhero', and how he felt compelled to mobilise local love for the crane when he discovered it was threatened by the illegal pet trade and wetland habitat loss.
