How Essex inspired 'Death in Paradise'
From hard-edged gangsters to the 'Golden Age' of classic detective novels, Essex has produced some of the biggest names in crime fiction, including Martina Cole, Margery Allingham and Ruth Rendall.
There's also Robert Thorogood who grew up in the village of Great Horkesley near Colchester, whose love of storytelling began in Essex later inspired him to write the BBC TV series 'Death in Paradise', which has now expanded into spin-offs 'Beyond Paradise' and 'Return to Paradise'...
