Essex port to receive £1bn investment
The London Gateway port on the River Thames near Stanford-Le-Hope is to receive a one billion pound expansion. DP World, who own the Essex terminal says the investment will create 400 permanent jobs and make it Britain's biggest container port within five years, capable of being able to receive six of the world's biggest vessels at the same time.
Kate Willard, chair of the Thames Estuary Growth Board, says she welcomes the announcement.
