How we survived two days stuck on a mountain ledge
Fay Manners from Bedford (pictured, right) waited for rescue more than 20,000ft (6,000m) up in the Himalayas. She was with her climbing partner, Michelle Dvorak, when they lost the bag with their vital equipment down the side of Chaukhamba mountain in northern India. It sparked an 80-hour rescue mission, but search helicopters couldn’t see where they were sitting and they realised they couldn’t wait any longer. Interviewed by Amelia Reynolds. Photo: Fay Manners.
