What are your rights as a leaseholder?
Millions of people in the UK own a leasehold property, which tend to be a more affordable housing option. However, in recent years there have been numerous complaints of inadequate repairs, expensive and unjustified service charges and costly extensions to the lease costing people thousands.
The Leasehold and Freehold Reform Bill is currently being debated in parliament, aiming to make extending a lease or buying a freehold easier and cheaper. Consumer champ Matt Allwright explains what it means for you and the three things you need to know before buying a leasehold property.
