The Wandering Hearts are band that has had one of the quickest rises to fame in the industry.

They formed just three years ago in Tim’s home; during their second session they uploaded a rough recording to SoundCloud and within 30 minutes they had a manager who landed them a record deal with Decca.

Tim, who's originally from Worcester, has gone on to star in Once and Kinky Boots on London's West End.

The Wandering Hearts have since been making waves online and on tour with country music legend Marty Stuart in the UK, won the Bob Harris Emerging Artist Award and warmed up the crowd at Hyde Park’s Summer Festival before Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks graced the stage. And that’s not to mention performing on BBC Radio 2 for Jools Holland and Bob Harris!

The band has, most recently, become the first-ever group to make their U.S. debut at Nashville’s prestigious Grand Ole Opry and The Ryman in the same week. They also performed at the famous Bluebird Café and Elvis Presley’s Graceland.

3 - 5 August: The Drunken Monkey Rock Festival nr Upton
Now in its fourth year, this annual event is run by volunteers and more than 50 bands will be playing for free.

There's two stages and free weekend camping, all raising money for the Midlands Air Ambulance.

The event, which takes place on the Welland Road, raised more than £5,000 for charity in its first 12 months.

This year Wizzafest returned to Stoke Prior Sports & Country Club after being held at Dodderhill Equestrian Centre for a while.

Their 2017 event was cancelled because of a financial shortfall.

Last year's event left the organisers £1,700 out-of-pocket and despite holding other fundraising activities, they failed to make enough to host a summer event.

But this year the festival returned with live music, dance workshops, storytelling and interactive stalls.

How to write a hit record: Alan McGee
This week, we start a brand new series with one of Hay-on-Wye's most prolific hit-makers.

Alan McGee was the founding father of Creation Records, responsible for signing bands such as Oasis, Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine and The Libertines.

Alan was also behind a club night which saw appearances from The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight, Kasabian and The Darkness.

Musicians' Masterclass

Musicians' Masterclass
It was the biggest new music business gathering to ever to be held in the UK, with more than 100 sessions and 250 speakers ensuring every aspect of the music business was covered.

Held across three days, Amplify offered exclusive access to the UK music industry’s biggest names through intimate talks, music masterclasses and recording workshops.

This week, we hear from The Hunna and their manager Carl Hitchbourn; a band that gained a top 20 record and sold out the O2 Academy in Brixton within their first two years.

We discuss how to create a marketing strategy for a band.
