The Purple Shades are a Worcester quintet that creates music which includes a nod to the surf sound of '60s.
This young, lively and exciting group's influences include The Kooks, Arctic Monkeys, Tame Impala, The Beach Boys and Bob Dylan.
“A high energy performance from a band with more musical instruments than you can shake a drumstick at!” - Andrew Marston.

Sailing

This week, we hear from the Herefordshire duo Mice in a Matchbox, who've spent the last few years floating across the globe, dropping anchor and playing shows wherever the wind takes them!
Singer/songwriter Sally Stamford, from Kington, and guitarist/vocalist Jim Rolt, from Bromyard, are currently at Bequia, in the Carribean, having sailed across the Atlantic in their boat Chaos.
Most of their practicing is done at sea and in various anchorages.

BBC Music Introducing in Stourport

At the end of February, we descended on a place that was once primarily a hotel to record our latest sessions.
But behind the doors of the The Swan in Strourport is not only a live music space, that’s putting the town back on the musical map, but also a brand new recording studio.
We took along artists handpicked from the BBC Music Introducing uploader to perform in front of a live audience – and also for you!

Track of the Week

The Bewdley "powerhouse of funk" of have been making infectious beats for the best part of two decades.
They've played countless times at Glastonbury, toured and had remixes from the Fun Lovin' Criminals, performed alongside De La Soul, Trevor Nelson and The Blockheads and appeared on BBC Music Introducing on a number of occasions (the last being on our stage at the Wychwood Festival on Cheltenham Racecourse).
But it also turns out the lead singer's sister is the Olympic gold medalist Tessa Sanderson!
