Messaging apps: There's a lot of politics at play
Major General Jonathan Shaw, formerly in charge of cyber security at the MOD, says we will be in trouble if "we apply blunt weapons" to encrypted messaging apps.
He thinks working with technology companies to combat terrorism is a good idea but cautions against forcing these companies to allow government surveillance of encrypted messages.
