Andrea Leadsom told the Times political correspondent Rachel Sylvester that she's sure Theresa May will be "really, really sad she doesn't have children" but that "being a mum means you have a very real stake in the future of our country, a tangible stake".
Times journalist Rachel Sylvester, defending her article to presenter Sarah Montague said she was "baffled" by Mrs Leadsom's reaction.
