The museum 'packed with the spirit of its founder'
In 1810, Dr Henry Duncan opened the world's first savings bank, the Ruthwell Parish Bank, which is now home to the Savings Banks Museum.
The 18th century building houses a collection of early home savings boxes, coins and bank notes from many parts of the world.
Playwright and author, Frank Cottrell-Boyce, talks us through the Savings Bank Museum in Ruthwell, Dumfries, as part of our small museum series.
