Athletics doping: How does Russia get to Rio?

The Russian Anti-doping Agency (RUSADA) will have to prove it can operate “independently of Russia” if the Russian team is to participate in the Rio Olympics, according to Dick Pound, author of the damning World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) doping report.

The WADA Foundation Board is to meet to discuss the growing crisis in the sport, following the Russian doping scandal.

Mr Pound told the Today programme that Russia would have to start the process for re-accreditation of their doping laboratory and demonstrate a "willingness to make sure that the laboratory acts independently and that it is not subject to any pressures".

"While I don’t think you can necessarily change the culture that has developed over the years you can certainly change the conduct pretty quickly if you want to," he said.
