Steve McNamara: 'Not sure union gave Sam Burgess a chance'

Sam Burgess has left Bath for a return to former club South Sydney Rabbitohs in the Australian National Rugby League.

"I’m not sure union really gave him a chance, it’s up for debate that one", said the England Rugby League head coach Steve McNamara.

"What I’ll say is it was a fantastic achievement, having never played rugby union in his life, then in the space of twelve months to represent England in a World Cup. That’s a great achievement for anyone," Steve McNamara said.
