PM listeners' sounds: Rowing machine
Tonight's sound from a PM listener is from John Kirtland. John says: It's a rowing machine, aka an ergo, in the Marlow Rowing Club gym. It's a beast of torture that I've always resented until I was challenged by a friend (another old bloke) to join him in tackling one million metres of ergo time - getting fit and raising some money for charity at the same time. With this new target in mind the sound has become a friend, almost hypnotic with its regular pattern, humming away the metres as we get closer to our goal. I reached 270,000 metres last night having taken a two week break due to a bad back brought on by.....gardening!"
