Nigel Farage of UKIP: 'We have not offered Tories a deal'

The Tories are worried that the UK Independence Party will cause them serious damage at the next election and some say they will even push the Lib Dems into fourth place.

Ukip begin their annual conference in Birmingham today.

Speaking to the Today programme, the leader of the party Nigel Farage denied offering a deal to the Conservatives.

He said he would only consider making a deal if it was "written in blood" that there would be a referendum on Britiain's EU membership.

He described UKIP as upbeat, optimistic and "working hard on policy".

He classed the party as "centre-right" on the economy but also described members of UKIP as "classical liberals" because they believe in habeas corpus and a smaller state.
