Cape town contrasts
An introduction to contrasts in Cape Town. Trade is responsible for the development of the city of Cape Town. The city is a playground for the wealthy few, while the majority of residents live in sprawling townships located around the perimeter. We meet a black family who live in a township. The family migrated from the countryside during the apartheid years when a pass was required to enter Cape Town. The family's house is self-built and spartan, but it does have essential services. The mother describes her aspirations for her children.
