Heat Two hosted by Josh Pugh

The BBC's biggest comedy talent search is heading to Coventry, where five comics will compete in the second of six knockout heats to bag their place in the grand final.

The BBC’s biggest comedy talent search continues with the second of six heats. From almost a thousand entries, 30 new comedians from across the UK have been chosen to battle it out for a place in the grand final, and tonight, five more take to the stage.

Performing at the BBC New Comedy Club at The Box, FarGo Village in Coventry, are Daisy Roberts, Sang Don Park, Abbie Hale, Mark Maloney and Maanadh Naik. Each has just five minutes to impress the judges and book their place in the final.

Tonight's gaffer is award-winning comedian, actor and England para-footballer Josh Pugh.

Amy Gledhill, award-winning comedian, actor and writer from Hull, leads the judging panel as this year's new head judge. Joining her are Ghosts star Kiell Smith-Bynoe and former New Comedy Awards winner Dan Tiernan. They face a tough decision, as there are five strong acts on the bill, but only one can go through to the grand final at Birmingham Town Hall in November.

Since it was first established in 1995, the BBC New Comedy Awards has helped launch and nurture the careers of some of Britain's best-loved comedians, including Peter Kay, Sarah Millican, Romesh Ranganathan, Joe Lycett, Lee Mack, Alan Carr, Russell Howard, Tom Allen, Julian Barratt, Josie Long, Shappi Khorsandi, Lee Ridley and Lauren Pattison.

This year's series continues the drive to uncover brand new comedy talent from every corner of the country. Who will be the next big name in British comedy?
