The celebrated Italian pianist Beatrice Rana performs Prokofiev, Debussy and Tchaikovsky in a recital recorded at the Sala Sinopoli in Rome as part of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia's chamber music season. From Prokofiev's vivid piano portraits of Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers to Debussy's dazzling and phantasmagoric second book of Études, the programme culminates in Prokofiev's Piano Sonata No 6, a work of rhythmic drive and dramatic intensity composed on the eve of the Second World War.

Recorded earlier this year at the Sala Sinopoli in Rome's Auditorium Parco della Musica, and presented by Sarah Walker.

Tchaikovsky: The Nutcracker, Suite No 1, op 71a (Arr Mikhail Pletnev) - March, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Intermezzo
